Serbian Ambassador – Caerphilly Fire Station – 16th September 2011

As the Blazing to Serbia team prepared for their first drive to Serbia, they received a request for the Serbian Ambassador to visit Caerphilly Fire Station to speak to the team and to look at the vehicles and equipment that were being readied for donating to Serbia.

This was a great honour for the team and was made more special by the fact that South Wales Fire & Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer, Huw Jakeway also attended. ITV Wales filmed this as part of the Blazing to Serbia documentary.

Serbian Embassy London – 14th February 2012

In recognition of the first convoy of fire engines to travel across Europe to Serbia, Blazing to Serbia received an invitation to attend the Serbian Embassy to meet the Serbian Ambassador Dejan Popovic.

Serbian President – Serbian Embassy – 28th July 2012

The Blazing to Serbia team received an invitation to attend the Serbian Embassy in London to meet some of the Serbian Olympic team and the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic. This was a great honour for Blazing to Serbia and was made even more special when we were able to meet Andrija Zlatic, who had just won a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol shooting.

Serbian Deputy PM – 24th October 2011

When the first convoy of fire engines arrived in Serbia at the end of October 2011, there was an official handover arranged at Ruma Fire Station and Training Centre. This handing over ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dacic and dozens of television, newspaper and radio reporters, who all wanted interviews and photographs for Serbian media.

Serbian PM – 10th October 2012

The second convoy of six fire engines arrived in Serbia on 9th October and the handing-over ceremony took place in Belgrade on 10th October. We were again honoured that Ivica Dacic attended, but this time in his capacity as the Serbian Prime Minister.

Crown Prince Alexander – 9th July 2014

Following the arrival of the third convoy of fire engines and the Green Goddess fire truck on 8th July, the Blazing to Serbia team and our Serbian friends were invited to the Royal Palace for a tour and to meet Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine. This was a really special event, which was greatly appreciated by all concerned.

HMA residence, Belgrade – 22nd April 2015

Following the arrival of the third Blazing to Serbia convoy, which consisted of 5 fire engines, fully laden with ladders and various Fire Service equipment, the team were invited to the residence of HM Ambassador Denis Keefe.

This is always a lovely experience, especially for the younger members of the team, who have not met the Ambassador and his wife Kate, who always make us feel really welcome.

Sremska Mitrovica – Civic recognition for assistance in May 2014 flooding – 7th November 2014

Blazing to Serbia was presented with a certificate in recognition of the contribution that the donated fire engines and equipment played in the May 2014 flooding. This reception was attended by emergency services and community groups who had made a positive contribution during this time and was covered extensively by the local media.

Serbian Embassy London – 8th December 2014

An invitation to the Serbian Embassy in London to meet Nebojsa Stefanovic, the Interior Minister was gratefully accepted. This was a very enjoyable and productive visit to the Embassy, where the team were given a traditional Serbian welcome.

HMA residence, Belgrade – 22nd April 2015

Whilst the team were visiting Serbia, the team were invited to the residence of HM Ambassador Denis Keefe.

It is always a great honour to meet Her Majesty’s Ambassador, who always gives us a good welcome and also makes us feel at ease.

Prince Charles & Duchess of Cornwall – March 2016

Three of the Blazing to Serbia team were invited to a reception at the Serbian Parliament to meet Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, who were on a tour of the Balkans. As a result, three of the team flew into Belgrade for this event.

The amount of recognition that Blazing to Serbia received at this event was truly humbling, as people they had never met before wanted to speak to them and thank them for what they had done and were doing for Serbia.
